Frontera Therapy PLLC

Therapy for Children, Families, Couples, & Individuals

Dedicated to helping people discover their strengths and create lasting change.

We all have areas of ourselves and our lives that could benefit from additional attention, support, and change. I believe that support and strengths are both necessary to achieve this. As a therapist I aim to support my clients in discovering  and expanding on their strengths to reach their greatest potential.

I've been helping individuals, groups, and families build on their supports and strengths to improve their mental health and relationships for over two decades. I view every new client as a unique system and set of relationships with strengths to be discovered, built upon, and developed for improved well-being.

The best therapist is one who helps you no longer need them. Our goal is to help clients develop their inner and relational/community supports to sustain the change they desire to create. Together we can navigate that path forward!

Areas of Practice

Children

Being a child in the best of circumstances is a challenge. Most of us don't have that advantage-- making normal developmental challenges all the more difficult. Safe supportive relationships founded on respect, understanding, curiosity, and a willingness to listen can help to buffer against difficulties. I bring this perspective to my therapeutic work with children. Children often come to therapy because of some identified behaviors. Underlying those is an emotional world in need of support and guided development. Further, I view my role as helping bridge and repair any gaps between children and their most important and supportive relationships.

Individual Adults

There are many reasons to seek out therapy. Taking that step is important. Finding a good fit between yourself and a therapist is equally important. I believe that every client is unique in their strengths and needs. Part of my role as therapist is to work collaboratively and supportingly with clients to create intentionality and understanding that has the potential to ripple outward.

Families

There is a reason why we have so many jokes about families and holidays. Families are really complex and complicated social systems. They can easily shift from a source of love and support to a cause of distress. Family is our most intimate and meaningful community and putting in the hard work to improve its health and functioning is worth all the effort. I bring a systems and strengths based approach to my work with families.

Couples

Relations of any kind are challenging. And, the greater the intimacy and interdependence, the greater that challenge. Sometimes we loose sight of what we once valued or we fall away from maintaining our relational health. Whatever the cause, a relationship this valuable deserves the time, focus, effort, and support to rediscover its strengths and build toward new possibiliites.

Life as a therapist is a life of service in which we daily transcend our personal wishes and turn our gaze toward the needs and growth of the other. We take pleasure not only in the growth of our patient but also in the ripple effect—the salutary influence our patients have upon those whom they touch in life.
